The Cheapest Options for a Traditional Easter Roast

Reading Time: 2 mins

For anyone wanting to have a traditional Easter roast this year, the cost of living will be on your minds. The price of food is so high right now, everyone is counting their pennies and trying to make the pounds go further.

Here at MoneyMagpie we’ve had a look around to see if we can find you the best deals available for everything you need for your roast this year:

Easter Lunch - Roast Lamb

You can get a half leg of lamb (825g) from M&S at Ocado for just £8.25.

Tescos have currently got an offer on their lamb and you can buy a whole shoulder for just £10.20.

Aldi are doing a half leg of lamb (1.15kg) for £12.64.

Aldi have you covered this Easter. From 4th-9th April they are dropping the price of some of their veggies to just 19p:

Included in the popular deal is a selection of Aldi’s delicious, fresh vegetables all sourced from British suppliers, including Carrots (1kg), White Potatoes (2kg), Parsnips (500g), Swede (each) – all 19p.

Sticking with Aldi, you can pick up a jar of their Bramwells Mint Sauce for 49p (cheaper than their fresh mint which is 52p!).

Redcurrant jelly is a little pricer, but if you can’t imagine a mouthful of lamb without it, the cheapest we could find were either Sainsbury’s own brand for 85p or Asda’s own brand at the same price, 85p.

Chocolate Easter Eggs

In our household, Easter pudding is always an Easter Egg (or two, depending on the size and how full we are!). Easter eggs can be pricey, but you can pick up a small Cadbury’s egg for £1.25 from most supermarkets, or you could grab a pack of Aldi’s milk chocolate filled eggs (85p) while you’re already there picking up your bargain veg!

All of these prices were correct at the time of writing and were sourced via Trolley.co.uk the supermarket comparison site. If you want to do your own comparison, click here for our article about how to compare supermarket prices.
