Disney Treasure: Everything we know about about Disney Cruise Line’s next ship

After a 10-year hiatus in expanding the fleet, Disney Cruise Line has been busy in recent years.

Disney Wish joined the cruise line in the summer of 2022, ushering in an all-new class of three Triton-class ships that will join the original Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

Up next is Disney Treasure, which will be second in that trio of Triton-class ships coming to Disney Cruise Line in 2024. Here’s everything we know so far about Disney Treasure.

What we know about the Disney Treasure cruise ship

Disney Treasure will share much of its footprint and layout with Disney Wish. However, it will have a distinct look that appears to be less bright and airy “fairy tale” than we saw on Wish and more “mysterious adventure.”

Based on renderings, Disney Treasure will feature a Grand Hall that leans into a palate of deep blues, turquoise and gold, with a design inspired by gilded palaces from faraway places such as Asia and Africa — including the fictitious city of Agrabah from Disney’s Aladdin.

Fittingly, the statue in the Grand Hall will feature Jasmine, Aladdin and Magic Carpet ready to go on an adventure, which is the theme of this next ship.

Captain Minnie will also wear a special adventure-seeking outfit while on board Disney Treasure.

When will Disney Treasure set sail?

Naturally, Disney cruise fans want to know when Disney Treasure will set sail so they can plan their vacations.

All the company has said publicly about when Disney Treasure will begin operations is that it is scheduled for 2024. However, we have a few clues that let us infer when the ship might be ready.

In late March 2023, a ceremonial coin was placed under the keel of the ship, in keeping with maritime tradition, as the ship reached this construction milestone at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany. Engraved on the coin was Captain Minnie in her new voyager outfit.

What is especially interesting about this moment is the clue it gives into where the ship is in the construction process.

The keel laying ceremony for Disney Wish took place in April 2021, approximately 14 months before the ship first arrived in Florida from Germany and 15 months before it began carrying paying passengers.

Although construction timelines can vary from ship to ship, if that schedule were to repeat, Disney Treasure would be ready for passengers by the summer of 2024.

We already know that Disney’s second island in the Bahamas, Lighthouse Point, is set to debut by June 2024. With Castaway Cay and Lighthouse Point, there will be double the number of Disney-operated destinations in the Bahamas for ships like Wish, Treasure and others to dock for a day of fun in the sun come next summer.

Even if the timeline is a bit different for Disney Treasure than it is for Disney Wish, the ceremony indicates that Disney Treasure is on track to join the fleet next year.

Bottom line

Since 2012, Disney Cruise Line has operated a fleet of four ships, but 2022 marked the start of a period of rapid growth for the line. It welcomed Disney Wish in 2022 and will debut Disney Treasure in 2024 and the third Triton-class ship in 2025.

Disney also made a surprise purchase of one of the world’s largest cruise ships, which join the fleet and operate out of Singapore beginning in 2025.

The cruise line has also added a new highest tier, Pearl, in its Castaway Club elite status program to mark Disney’s 25th year of cruise operations.

In other words, it’s an exciting time to be a Disney Cruise Line fan. Stay tuned for more information about Disney Treasure, such as its onboard offerings and other details, to be released in the coming months as we approach its maiden voyage in 2024.
