If you’ve dreamt of a round-the-world ticket, you can use Capital One miles to book your journey with Cathay Pacific (for Oneworld airlines) and Aeromexico (for SkyTeam airlines). Last year, I paid 185,000 Asia Miles for a business-class itinerary departing Los Angeles and stopping in South Korea, Vietnam, Pakistan, Iran and Israel before returning home.

It’s also worth paying attention to Flying Blue Promo Rewards. These are discounted award redemptions on Air France and KLM, rotating monthly and offering incredible value on both intra-Europe and long-haul flights.

Ultimately, the airline you want to fly on is less important than how you book that flight; it’s worth earning Capital One’s version of transferable miles even if the airline you want to fly isn’t a transfer partner.
